Session 1, Day 7 Field Trip

Last week in "Exploring Earth," students explored the surrounding areas and collected leaf samples to classify trees and plants . This week, students will classify animals. Today we walked to the Dell pond in front of Ruffner Hall at UVA. Students used nets in the pond and stream that feeds into the pond to catch any organisms they could find. They caught several tadpoles, fish, crawfish, and frogs! They placed their aquatic finds in small tanks that will be brought back to the classroom and placed into larger tanks.
