Today in "The Science and Policy of Sustainable Energy," students learned about wind turbines. After learning about how wind turbines operate, students designed their own. They drew sketches of their design before using cups, popsicles, tape, paper, and motors to create a prototype. Once their prototypes were complete, students tested their turbines in front of small fans to simulate wind. They used an ammeter to measure the voltage generated by their turbine. As you can see from the videos below, the students designed successfully generated energy!
